Who me? Organized? My husband might tell you otherwise, but I do find it hard to keep track of our weekly schedule. You know: work, grocery shopping, tidying up, paying bills, remembering appointments, and so on. Fortunately, in our house, we all pitch in. No one person does everything. But we do have routines in place that really help me to stay organized.
These are the top 3 ways I stay organized:
- Planner
I use my planner everyday! I can be really forgetful so having a planner is vital for me. My planner is cute on the outside and useful on the inside. I like it to look beautiful but if I have found myself focusing on that more than the tasks I need to get done. So I let go of perfectionism and let myself scribble and write EVERYTHING in that planner. It’s been so helpful for me because I have allowed myself to write all the little things in it that I need to get done instead of only using it for the big events on my calendar. My planner to me is so much more than my calendar!
2. Chore Chart
I love taking care of my home. I really do! But daily chores are not my favorite thing. So much so that I used to think everyday about all the things that needed to get done weekly and I would beat myself up thinking that I needed to do them every single day. And then one day it hit me that I had to stop beating myself up daily because I didn’t get everything done. So I created a chore chart and it allowed me to breathe and know that I was going to get everything done every week just not all in one day. I only *have* to do two or three things everyday.
3. Notes app on my phone
This is a lifesaver for me because I am someone who gets inspired at the weirdest times. In the car, at the store, having a conversation with my mom while I cook, seriously it can happen anytime! I have so many notes that I’ve written down or recorded while I’m driving. (Does anyone else get super introspective while you’re driving?? I’m a small town girl so I’ve got a country commute a lot maybe that’s it!)
Those are the best tools I have for staying organized! Do you use any of these? Do you have anything different? I’d love to hear it and maybe pick up a couple of new ideas!
